Profit protection and anti-fraud measures
A big part of caring for our customers is the work we do around protecting their personal information and stopping fraudulent transactions. STRIPE's Profit Protection team works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure that threats are mitigated as effectively and efficiently as possible.
We want to make sure our customers are not interrupted by fraud checking, while monitoring transactions to intercept fraudulent orders. We use an automatic anti-fraud system that reviews each order worldwide, then selects a maximum of 0.87% for manual review by the STRIPE team.
During the fiscal year from September 2016 to August 2017, the team identified a fraud of € 120,000 that could otherwise have resulted in a "chargeback" and a loss of inventory. A chargeback is a refund made by a credit card company to their cardholder. Chargebacks occur when a cardholder disputes an object debited from his card, usually because he claims to have not authorized the transaction. The refund is then refunded to FashionMood, resulting in a financial loss.
